China, Italy, The United Kingdom will be among several States to feature country- specific pavilions at construction equipment "Bauma Connexpo Show.’

Nearly 700 companies are set to take part and already 620 equipment makers and those engaged in the construction equipment supplies from all over the world have confirmed their participation in the event to be held at Mumbai in February 2013, according to Thomas Loffler, Chief Executive Officer of bcIndia.

The bcIndia is a venture of Messe Munchem International and AEM, the North American Association of Equipment Manufacturers.

The international trade fair is expected to bring together large construction equipment companies and small and medium enterprises through respective country pavilions. Small and medium enterprises are encouraged to take part by their respective countries by subsidising their participation at the show.

"While the construction equipment market has been relatively subdued in the last two years due to general slowdown, globally, there is huge expectation from India as there is likelihood of sudden surge in demand for equipment," he explained.

Citing their joint study in the Indian market, he said from about 71,000 units sold last year, it is projected to grow to about 1,14,000 units by 2016. Due to relatively slow growth, 2013 is seen to have biggest spike at about 16 per cent, followed by 9 per cent in 2014 and 11 per cent in 2015.

The National Highway Authority of India has awarded about 4,375 km of roads in the first nine months of 2012 as against 4,553 km in 2011, 3,338 km in 2010 and 643 km in 2009. The implementation of road projects in the backdrop of the Prime Minister’s proposal to develop 23 km of roads per day will significantly boost the equipment demand, he added.
