State Bank of India Officers’ Association, Chennai Circle, has embarked on a mega housing project at Mambakkam village, located at a distance of 8 km from Vandalur zoo in Chennai.
The estimated cost of the project is ₹800 crore. The work on this project, comprising 1,875 dwelling units (of which 1,110 will be 3 bedroom flats, 420 – 2BHK, 225 – 2.5 BHK and 120 – single bedroom apartments) commenced in 2011. It is expected to be over by February 2017.
General Secretary D Thomas Franco Rajendra Dev told BusinessLine the association has in the past developed housing colonies in Coimbatore, Madurai and Tirunelveli among other cities, albeit on a much smaller scale.
This will be the first mega housing project mooted by the association, he added. The association has assigned the project to Kolkata-based Simplex Infrastructure Ltd.
