The Kudumbashree Mission is venturing into the service sector by acting as the nodal agency to provide maintenance support to multi-storeyed apartments and gated communities.

It will provide services in security, caretaking, cleaning, maintenance, garden care and waste management. The unit will also take care of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities such as lifts, generators, sewage treatment plants, swimming pools and health clubs etc.

The State-level inauguration of the project will be held in Thiruvananthapuram in October. The project was taken up in association with the Kochi-based builder Asset Homes.

The pilot project of the programme was launched at Asset Portico, a premium townhouse project of Asset Homes in Kochi. The maintenance of Asset Portico has been entrusted to a 10-member Kudumbashree team who were given extensive training in building maintenance and caretaking.

By providing employment opportunities to the members of Kudumbashree, Asset Homes is associating itself with the State Government’s women empowerment programme, V. Sunil Kumar, Managing Director, Asset Homes, said. 

Kudumbashree has plans to extend the services to 500 multi-storeyed buildings in the State in one year that has the potential to generate 5,000 job opportunities for women, K.B. Valsala Kumari, Executive Director, Kudumbshree Mission, said.
