Spiritual guru Sadhguru has called upon the real estate industry in the country to leverage the new investment opportunities that are around the corner, as businesses across the globe shut down and move out their China operations, readying to set up base in more conducive areas.

The Founder of Isha Foundation, a spirituality organisation, was recently participating in a webinar organised by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) and the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO).

The real estate industry employs over 5 crore labourers and has been battling stalled projects and an unprecedented reverse exodus of migrants.

As webinar participants outlined the urgent revival of the real estate sector terming it crucial to help pull the economy out of its current morass, since realty supports over 250 allied sectors directly and indirectly, Sadhguru urged the industry to change its relationship with migrant labourers by offering them better healthcare, accommodation and livelihood security so as to encourage them to return to cities.

During the discussion, Sadhguru inadvertently shone the light on an unassumed market - that of migrant labourers fueling real estate demand in smaller towns. People in non-metros have become aware of the importance of owning a home and the many benefits it may render in times of financial adversity, said developers who also spoke about a quick uptick in residential demand from these areas.
