The Visakhapatnam steel plant - Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd will extend full support to vendors, MSMEs and ancillary units, according to Chairman and Managing Director P. Madhusudan.

He was speaking at the inaugural of the vendors' meet in the plant on Thursday. "We will always encourage and support MSMEs, startups and vendors and we have put in place certain guidelines for their effective functioning," he said. Vendors from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana participated in the meet organised by the materials management department at Ukkunagaram.

He appreciated the role played by vendors in the RINL growth and stressed the need for strong supply chain management for the company. He said the RINL had passed through a difficult phase and registered significant growth in operations and marketing despite sluggishness during 2016-17. He expressed confidence that the RINL would complete its expansion and operate with higher capacity during 2017-18. He said vendors should focus on supplying quality input material and assured them full support and co-operation from the RINL’s side.

D.N Rao, the Director (Operations), said the RINL products were always known for their quality. P Raychaudhury, the Director (Commercial), said the RINL had around 3,500 vendors throughout the country. He sought feedback from vendors for further improving the processes at the plant.
