S Raghupathy, Deputy Director General, CII and in-charge, IGBC has been re-elected as Chair of World Green Building Council (WorldGBCs)-Asia Pacific Network (APN) for a second term. Raghupathy’s next term will commence from July 1, 2019 and end on June 30, 2023.
APN is a strong network of over 15 countries in the region and works closely with the stakeholders in identifying new growth opportunities, which in turn will facilitate the adoption and promotion of green buildings and green built-environment across the globe.
Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) became one of the Founding Members of WorldGBC in early 2000 and since then is playing a catalytic role in the spread and growth of global green building movement.
IGBC has demonstrated that green buildings make good business and constructing a green building is technically feasible and economically viable. As a result of concerted efforts, IGBC has facilitated India become one of the top Countries in the world in terms of largest registered green building footprint with various types of projects adopting IGBC green building rating system.
V Suresh, Chairman, IGBC, said, “Raghupathy’s second term at APN will enable India to further advance the green building movement and facilitate sharing of best practices, success stories among APN member Countries.”
