The Andhra Pradesh Science Congress-2012 is being organised at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur during November 14-16.

About 800 scientists, professionals and researchers from different universities, national laboratories and industry will present their research contributions in different sessions

The event is being organised by the AP Akademi of Sciences. As part of its activities, the Akademi also organises the annual convention. The theme of the congress is innovations in science, technology and mathematics.

Special sessions will be dealing with contemporary themes such as health, nutrition and behavioural sciences; application of mathematics in science and technology (on the occasion of national mathematics year 2012).

In addition to a S&T Expo, to encourage school children in sciences an interaction with renowned scientists across the nation is being planned at the congress. A special farmer-scientist meet will be another highlight, said Ch. Mohan Rao, President of the Akademi and Director, Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences, Department of Science and Technology, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Research Organizations like Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, National Geophysical Research Institute and CCMB will be supporting this annual event, a press release said.

The A.P. Akademi of Sciences will be celebrating its golden jubilee with year-long S & T activities from December, 2012 to December, 2013, covering the entire state of Andhra Pradesh.
