Renowned physicist Ajit Kumar Mohanty would be the new Director of the most prestigious nuclear research institute in the country, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), an official release said on Tuesday.
Mohanty, who current heads the physics group at BARC and is also director of the Kolkata-based Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, takes over from K. N. Vyas, who continued to hold charge as BARC chief despite being appointed Department of Atomic Energy Secretary in September last year.
