Leading stars Saina Nehwal and Lee Chong Wei (World No 4) emerged as the costliest buys at the auction of the Premier Badminton League. While Nehwal was picked up by Awadh Warriors, Wei was bought by Hyderabad Hunters, both for a whooping $100,000. Other top buys included PV Sindhu, who was bought by Chennai Smashers for $95,000, while K Srikanth was bought for $80,000 by Bangalore Top Guns. Tommy Sugiarto, H S Prannoy and Tanongsak Saensomboosuk were the other top buys. Akhilesh Das Gupta, President of Badminton Association of India President & PBL Chairman said: “The League has attained a unique position in the world of Badminton. The increasing choice of opting for younger player is an indication that the teams are keen to experiment with fresh talent.”
