Mars Rover Manipal (MRM), a team of students from the Manipal Institute of Technology, finished seventh out of 36 teams from across the globe in the final round of the 12th University Rover Challenge (URC) competition at Utah in the US. The event was conducted from May 31 to June 2. A press release from Manipal Institute of Technology said here that the performance of MRM was better than all the five other teams from India in the fray.
The aim of URC was to encourage students to develop skills in the field of robotics and to work in multi-disciplinary teams in collaboration between scientists and engineers, it said. URC is a part of the global Rover Challenge series powered by the Mars Society, an American non-profit organisation promoting human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars, the release said.
