Youth television brand MTV said it will bring the second season of Super Fight League (SFL), the world’s first mixed martial arts tournament.
SFL will be exclusively aired from February on MTV, which has acquired the broadcast and digital rights for the league.
SFL is promoted by British businessman and sports enthusiast Bill Dosanjh and British professional boxer and two-time world champion Amir Khan, and was launched with a vision to cement Mixed Martial Arts’ position as a mainstream sport with mass appeal in the global sports fraternity.
Having garnered more than 100-million views in 5 years for 67 live televised events, SFLis ranked as the third-biggest Mixed Martial Arts brand in the world and second most watched sport in India after cricket.
The franchise-based league, being organised in association with the All-India Martial Arts Association (AIMMAA), will entail a prize money of ₹4 crore as well as 96 players and eight teams.
Bill Dosanjh, SFL’s CEO & Founder said: “Having MTV as the broadcast partner will further augment our endeavour to reach the core population of India and make SFL a name to reckon with in the MMA fraternity in India.”
