Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that the State will introduce a comprehensive sports policy that would focus on nurturing grassroots sports talent to prepare them for future international challenges.
He said that it was a matter of great concern that sports was the most neglected area; players who had excelled in Olympics had done so because of their individual efforts and not through Government support.
Badal said that Punjab government would also engage the services of foreign coaches to provide specialised training to budding players.
The upcoming hockey stadium in SAS Nagar would have same blue Astroturf that was used in London Olympics, he added.
