The 7th edition of ‘Subcon 2018’ is scheduled between May 23 and 25 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex here.
Hailing the event as a social responsibility project of Codissia towards the small industries in this region, event chairman M Yuvaraj said, “Subcon provides a platform for the MSMEs to showcase their capabilities, where the PSUs and large private industries also participate to identify quality vendors.” With over one lakh registered MSME units and an equal number of unregistered players, the economy of the region is sustained predominantly by these units.
The event this year has caught the attention of many more MSMEs as they have sensed a huge opportunity in defence manufacturing and are gearing to meet those requirements.
This is evident from the fact that Subcon 2018 has almost doubled in size over the previous edition. About 13 PSUs and 15 large private industries will participate in the event this year.
Around 190 MSMEs are expected to showcase their products and at least eight banks have confirmed participation. The event is to be inaugurated by S Pandian, Director, ISRO Propulsion Complex, Mahendragiri.
A concurrent event titled ‘Small is Big’ is being organised at The Residency Towers by Texas Ventures on May 25.
