Tamil Nadu witnessed a jump in Covid-19 cases in the State with 646 persons, including 54 from other States/countries, testing positive on Tuesday. In Chennai alone, 509 persons were reported positive.
This takes the total tally of Covid-19 cases in the State to 17,728, with 11,640 in Chennai. After 611 persons were discharged on Tuesday, the total number of discharged persons is 9,342. This means the number of active cases is 8,256 - two deaths cross notified to other States and one patient died after turning negative for infection.
Nine Covid-19 patients died today to take the tally to 127 in the State. There are 5,906 inviduals suspected for the virus in isolation ward admission.
A total of 10,289 blood samples were tested on Tuesday, says a government data.
