A total of 817 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 18,545 in the State.
The new cases include 138 returnees from Maharashtra and one from Kerala. In Chennai alone, 558 persons were tested postive, taking the total to 12,203 in the city.
On Wednesday, 567 persons were discharged. This leaves the total number of active cases in the State to 8,500. The number of blood samples tested was 11,231.
Six Covid-19 patients died today to take the tally to 133, says government data.
