Tamil Nadu continues to see an increase in Covid-19 positive cases after 827 persons, including 559 in Chennai, tested positive on Thursday to take the total tally to 19,732.
The total number includes 117 returnees from other States/countries. So far, 1,253 returnees have reported positive of which 936 persons were from Maharashtra, said Health Minister, C Vijaya Baskar.
“Don’t be scared by the Covid-19 numbers. The increase is due to testing of more persons. Today, 12,246 samples were tested taking the total to 4.34 lakh,” he added. Today, 639 persons were discharged taking the total to 10,548. This leaves the total number of active cases at 8,676.
A total of 12 people died of the virus on on Thursday(total 145), says government data.
