The results of the Assembly elections in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura will be known today. The BJP has emerged as a strong contender in all the three states and two exit polls have predicted that the party would dethrone the 25-year-old Left Front government in Tripura and consolidate its position in the other two states. While the Congress has been ruling Meghalaya for 10 years, the Naga People’s Front (NFP) has been in power in Nagaland since 2003, except for a three-month period of President’s rule in 2008.

Karnakata chief minister Siddaramaiah is expected to launch the long-waited arterial road project linking Mysore Road and Magadi Road. Once complete, the road will be one of the major arterial roads connecting Mysore Road and Magadi Road, a missing link in the city’s arterial road network.
Meanwhile in Europe, Italy will vote on March 4 in an election expected to produce a hung parliament, instability and possible market turbulence in the Euro Zone’s third largest economy. And, Germany's SPD party will announce the result of a member's poll on a deal to renew a "grand coalition” government with Angela Merkel's conservatives following an inconclusive election last year.
