Tamil Nadu reported an addition of 4,807 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours to take the total cases to 1,65,714. After 3,049 Covid-19 patients were discharged today, the number of active cases in the State was 49,452.
On Saturday, 48,195 samples were tested to a total of 18,79,499.
The number of deaths due to the virus increased by 88 (a new high) to 2,403.
In Chennai, there was an addition of 1,219 cases.
Among the districts, the most number of infections were in Chengalpattu (323); Coimbatore (118); Dindigul (107); Kanyakumari (146); Madurai (185); Ranipet (109); Sivagangai (176); Thanjavur (181); Theni (144); Tiruvallur (370); Thoothukudi (161); Tirunelveli (161); Trichy (124); Vellore (191) and Virudhunagar (179).
