Valagro, an Italian company dealing with biostimulus and speciality nutrients products for agriculture, is looking at expanding its operations to the North either through partnerships or through acquisitions.
The firm sees a “huge potential” in the country, which is presently contributing about 5 per cent to its global turnover of $150 million.
“We are presently selling 10 products here for vegetables and fruits. We are planning to launch new products later this year or early next year, addressing the challenges of salinity and products that can help increase uptake of nutrients,” Prem Warrier, Chief Operating Officer of Valagro Group, said.
The firm, which is selling its products in the country in the last 20 years, bought a manufacturing facility in Hyderabad two years ago. After the acquisition, it invested about $5.80 million (€ 5 million) on expansion.
