The third edition of the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival will start on September 1 in Bangalore. About 480 golfers are expected to participate in this four-day golf tournament, which will be the official qualifying event for the World Golfers' Championship.
“The winning team from the Toyota Karnataka Golf Festival will be given a direct entry into the world final of the championship, scheduled to be held at Durban, South Africa, between October 29 and November 5. Four players will represent the country across different handicap categories,” said Mr Rishi Narain, Founder, Rishi Narain Golf Management Pvt Ltd, promoters of the event. Last year, the three-day event saw participation of 300 golfers.
Tourism potential
The golf festival, promoted by the Department of Tourism, Government of Karnataka, will be held at the Karnataka Golf Association. Speaking at the event, Mr N.C. Muniyappa, Principal Secretary, Department of Tourism, said such niche events would enhance the tourism potential of the State, and also help increase tourism revenues.
