If you are planning to strike out on your own, the 20s are the best age to start, says Mr Sachin Bansal, CEO of the online retail company Flipkart.com. It is then that other social responsibilities do not weigh you down, which makes it tough to start a new business at a later age. “Risk bearing ability comes down as grey hairs increase,” he smiles.
On being selected for award, it is a great platform that gives an opportunity to “say my story,” says Mr Bansal. Even if it is to a small extent, he would be glad if that inspires others in their venture or to start one.
He was in his mid-20s when they launched the venture. Flipkart is present in over 35 cities and has immediate plans to more than triple its presence. As of now, it ships out over 30,000 items and with the need to scale up its operations exceed those of some of the large courier companies.
