Superhero flick Avengers: Endgame has set a new benchmark by garnering the highest opening day collections for a Hollywood movie at the Indian box office. The movie earned Rs 53.10 crore in terms of net collections at the domestic box office.

In a tweet, trade analyst Komal Nahta said, "It’s Rs 53.10 crore for Day 1 for Avengers:Endgame in India....Phenomenal! Stupendous ! Earth-shattering!." He added that the movie has surpassed the opening day collections of Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 52.25 crore).

Avenger: Endgame has also garnered the third highest net opening day collections at the Indian box office. Bahubali 2 (Rs 122 core) and Robot 2.0 (Rs 54 crore) are ranked as the top two movies in terms of all India box office opening day net collections so far, as per industry estimates.

However, some movie buffs took to social media to complain about late night show cancellations in some cities, despite booking tickets days in advance. A senior executive with a multiplex chain said that in cities such as Noida, Pune and Mumbai some late night shows had to be cancelled due to the local authorities not granting the necessary approvals but that rest of the shows are running as per schedule.

Leading multiplex chains are running 1300-1400 shows per day on an average to keep up with the demand and in select cities , shows have been scheduled as early as 6 am and as late as 3 am .
