Casual dining restaurant chain Barbeque Nation has worked with its chefs to offer the Mumbai’s famous street food in South India under the ‘Magic of Mohammed Ali Road’ festival.

The chain has recreated the flavours and delicacies of Mohammad Ali Road and Khao Gali at its Barbeque Nation outlets from the Mumbai’s famous food streets.

Sandeep Pandey, Regional Manager, South, Barbeque Nation Hospitality Ltd. told Business Line, “The Magic of Mohammed Ali Road menu is an exploration of the range of flavours that typify Iftaar street food in Mumbai. The dishes have very distinct tastes and flavours that set it apart from Mughlai, Lucknowi and Hyderabadi cuisine.”

The chain proposes to festivities across all its Southern outlets in a phased manner recreating the ambience, fragrance, sights and sounds of Mohammed Ali Road.

Signature dishes include Bhuna Chicken– slightly saucy spicy chicken, served live from a tawa Tuck into plate of ZamZamPulao– a rice dish that consists of chicken, mixed vegetables and nuts, or gorge on Mutton Khichda– a rich, meaty stew. The rustic street flavours in all the dishes from this scrumptious feast are carefully re-created by Barbeque Nation chefs.

Live-counters and rehri-carts, where dishes like Mutton Seekh Kabab, Raan e Gosht– slow cooked whole leg of mutton delicately perfumed with spices cooked in traditional style, greet visitors in the chain.

Customers can bask in the aroma of marinated, skewered meat sizzling over hot grills and tawas. The crafted Chicken Baida Paratha- another signature dish of Mohammad Ali Road, is offered in the ethnic style.

“This festival is aimed to recreate the magic of these delicacies on our diners’ plates while ensuring the dishes remain true to the original Mohammad Ali Road style of cooking,” he explained.

The Barbeque Nation chain promotes ‘DIY’ (do-it-yourself) cuisine with a concept of live on-the-table grill. The restaurant chain offers a pre-fixed menu drawn from Mediterranean, American, Oriental, Asian and Indian subcontinent.

The Mohammad Ali Road in Mumbai is known for its lip-smacking street food where people throng to enjoy traditional delicacies. This is an effort to offer the best of Mumbai’s street food, Pandey, who spent three months to work on the menu, said.
