IHH Healthcare Berhad, through its subsidiary Parkway Pantai Ltd, has invested $50 million for a majority stake in Continental Hosptials Ltd, Hyderabad. This is IHH’s first direct foray in India. Continental Hospitals is a 550-bed multi-super speciality facility that started operations in March 2013.

Wellness Forever raises ₹20 cr

Wellness Forever, a Mumbai-based retail pharmacy chain, has raised ₹20 crore in a maiden equity round from a consortium of high-networth individuals and family offices led by Rajiv Dadlani group, for a minority stake in the company. The money will be mainly used to launch a Zero Error Distribution Centre, a warehousing and logistics facility, in Bhiwandi for pharma, lifestyle, wellness, FMCG products. Wellness will also increase its retail stores from 70 to over 100 outlets in the next 12 months, in Mumbai, Pune and Nashik.

Quikr gets $150 m from Steadview

Online classified site Quikr has raised $150 million in a fresh round of funding, from Hong Kong-based Steadview Capital, with existing investors Tiger Global Management and Investment AB Kinnevik participating. The company had in five earlier raised over $190 million from nine investors. Quikr plans to use the money to grow its mobile business and invest in key categories, including goods, cars, real estate, jobs and services.

MobiKwik receives $25 million

MobiKwik, a leading mobile wallet company, has raised close to $25 million in a Series B round led by Tree Line Asia. The other investors include Cisco Investments, American Express and existing investor Sequoia Capital. MobiKwik, with over 15 million users and 25,000 merchants, will use the money to invest in technology, data analytics, brand building and growing the network of users and merchants. The MobiKwik wallet enables users to pay for their mobile recharge and bill payments, to shop on merchants including Cafe Coffee Day, PVR, Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, TastyKhana, JustEat, eBay and Snapdeal.

Matrix invests in Purple Squirrel

Matrix Partners India has led a funding round in Purple Squirrel Eduventures, which connects students with industry partners for field visits and hands-on experience. Existing investor India Quotient participated in this round.

Whatfix receives ₹5.5 crore

Enterprise software firm Whatfix, a SaaS platform that allows users to create interactive help guides on websites, has raised ₹5.5 crore seed stage funding led by Helion Venture Partners. Powerhouse Ventures, GSF and angel investors from the Valley also participated in this round. Whatfix will use the money to strengthen technology and to scale sales and marketing effort.

$5-m funding for LocalOye

LocalOye, a mobile marketplace for hiring local service professionals, has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Tiger Global Management and Lightspeed Venture Partners. LocalOye will use the money to expand to more service categories. It now operates in Mumbai, offering services in more than 250 categories, including education, home services, wellness and events.
