It is not just the Indian cricket fan who wants his or her team to win against Pakistan in the cricket match, even the celebrities and politicians want it. And when the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates his country’s team members on Twitter over their win against Pakistan in the cricket world cup, it gets most number of re-tweets during the world cup period.

After the win, Modi tweeted: “Congrats Team India. Well played. We are all very proud of you.” This tweet has been re-tweeted more than 20,800 times. A Twitter blog post said that #CWC15 contributed to more than 1.4 billion live views (impressions) of tweets across every match throughout the six week tournament (Twitter said this was measured by looking at how many times live tweets posted about #CWC15 were viewed on Twitter during each match). In fact, India topped the table here also. The semi-final match between Australia and India had the most live-tweet impressions. The match between traditional rivals India and Pakistan in the group stages was the second-most engaged one on Twitter. India’s match against Bangladesh came fourth, and its match against South Africa came fifth. The final between Australia and New Zealand came third.

Team Dhoni

The players from India and Pakistan had four representations each in the ‘dream team’ created by Twitter. The most mentioned players on Twitter during the series were part of the ‘dream team.’ India’s own MS Dhoni (@msdhoni) got the tag of the captain in this team. He was accompanied by Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan in it.

The blog post said that India took the most-mentioned honours on Twitter, followed by Pakistan, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
