With teams from 12 nations participating for one global title, the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) announced to kick off the Kabaddi World Cup 2016 on Friday in Ahmedabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be present during the Finals on October 22.
Teams from India, USA, UK, Australia, Iran, Poland, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Korea, Japan, Argentina and Kenya will vie for the global title in this sport demonstrative of strength, skill and technique.
All the matches will be held at The Arena stadium, in the city.
“The Federation has been working to develop Kabaddi as a competitive discipline. With the Kabaddi World Cup 2016, the sport is all set to get a breakthrough on a global stage,” said Janardan Singh Gehlot, President, IKF.
