An NRI based out of the Netherlands has created an online rendezvous for people in the film and television industry. The portal acts as a platform for writers, directors, cinematographers and art directors to meet up and collaborate.
“Besides helping in match making, the portal will bring down cost of film making as it connects the right people to join hands to complete the project,” Ranjit Thakur, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MediaKonnect, told Business Line.
In Hyderabad recently to launch the portal, he said there were already 8,900 creative people, representing a variety of verticals in the film industry had joined the platform. “We are in talks with various associations in the industry to populate the portal,” he said.
The start-up, which has six people working for it now, is planning to tap revenues from ancillary services that it was going to start. “We will make the space available for providers of equipment and services required for the industry. We will make money from them and not from the registered members themselves,” he said.
The start-up will create a calendar of events, listing workshops and other related events to help the members hone their skills.
“The platform will help tap all the under utilised talent and services of people living in different countries. This will result in bringing down the costs. Also, people can explore opening new markets for their films by connecting with people who can dub and distribute their films in different geographies,” he said.
The platform is available as a web platform and in Android and iOS apps.
