Matrix Partners India has led a $15-million round of funding in TinyOwl Technology Pvt Ltd, with existing investors Nexus Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital also participating. TinyOwl is a mobile-only food-ordering platform now available in Mumbai. TinyOwl, founded by Harshvardhan Mandad and four other alumni of IIT-Bombay, will use the money to take the service to a national level and innovate on the product.

Ola buys TaxiForSure for $200 m

Ola, a leading mobile app for personal transportation, has acquired cab aggregator TaxiForSure for $200 million in a cash-and-equity deal. Ola and TaxiForSure will continue to operate as separate entities. With this, Ola, which has over one lakh vehicles on its platform, has increased its footprint with TaxiForSure’s operator-led model.

CustomFurnish.com raises ₹16 cr

CustomFurnish.com, a custom-made furniture e-tailer, has raised ₹16 crore from a group of investors that includes Satish Reddy, Chairman, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories; Srini Raju, Founder, Peepul Capital; Srini Koppolu, Founder, Hyderabad Angels; and Anil Chalamshetty of Greenko Group. Founded by serial entrepreneur Madhukar Gangadi, CustomFurnish has its manufacturing facility in Hyderabad and now sells in Hyderabad, with plans to launch its services in Bengaluru and Chennai.

SAIF invests ₹6 crore in Niffler

Niffler, a Mumbai-based mobile only venture, has raised ₹6 crore from SAIF Partners. Niffler helps users discover deals and discounts from brick-and-mortar stores across categories. It has over 3,000 active users across 15,000 stores.
