In a bid to do his bit for those hit by unemployment during Covid-19 lockdown, actor Vijay Deverakonda stepped in with his not-for-profit organisation, to support middle class families.
The Deverakonda Foundation with its Middle Class Fund, until now, has aided 17,723 middle-class families with groceries and basic essentials worth over ₹1.7 crore.
Through this initiative, 58,808 families received help and over 8,505 volunteers offered upto ₹1.5 crore to join this community effort. With the lockdown 5.0 has enough relaxations, the initiative shut its operation from June 2.
Earlier, the foudnation was also successful in reviving the career of several youth through the ‘First Job Program’ initiative.
Vijay, who hails from a middle-class family expressed his solidarity with the people with his foundation.
The Foundation call urging the corporates to help has witnessed 535 people supporting the cause, according to a statement.
