Women need to be more confident and positive about their womanhood, maintained women leaders at the Power Women Seminar - A leadership meet organised by the Hindu Business Line here on March 7.

The annual seminar, which was organised to mark the International Women's Day, saw large participation of men and women.

"Women's day is now very well celebrated. Earlier it was few and far between. Today, we were introspecting as to what we should do. We were not male bashing society. Participation of men in such functions is encouraging. We feel empowered," said Ruzaan Khambatta, noted entrepreneur, engaged with Wizz O Tech, Police Heart 1091.

The one-day seminar focused on acknowledging the power of women on the fronts of professional and personal lives. The seminar, held at ONGC Officers' Club, Mehsana had ONGC Mehsana Asset as the lead partner and State Bank of India as the associate partner.

"It was a wonderful programme. The speakers added value to the concept, especially with the personal experiences they shared. It was not only for women but it united everyone- men and women both," sad Utpal Borah, executive director, ONGC Mehsana Asset.

The seminar acknowledged the power of women in different roles as educationist, philanthropist, entrepreneurs, politician, government servant and all those holding a leadership position in various organisations.

The speakers at the seminar were Rtn. PHF Nita Vyas, Director Interact Chairman District Women Membership Chairman, RID, 3051, Sunita Mathur, superintendent engineer, chairperson, Women's Development Forum, ONGC Mehsana, Ruzaan Khambatta, Wizz O Tech, Police Heart 1091, Alka Rao, Principal, MMV Sarvajanik Kanya Vidhyalaya, Anamika Gala, CEO, Anupreksha Yog Foundation.

"Programmes like these are necessary and should be arranged. It was very good inspiration. Be confident and be positive. The world is yours," said Alka Rao.

While during her address, Nita Vyas said, "I would like to say that men and women as separate should be removed from the mind. Equality is important. Women should not be dependent on anyone."

Anamika Gala maintained that such programmes brought awareness. "We should now take action. We ourselves sometimes weaken ourselves by saying we are weak and helpless. Raise your voice, a definite, loud and clear one. It is not your fault, the attacker is to be blamed," she said.
