At least 28 people were killed and 13 others sustained injuries following a coal mine blast in north-east China.
About 41 workers were trapped after the accident happened around 10.40 p.m. (local time) last night at Babao Coal Mine in Jiangyuan District of Jilin Province, a spokesperson with the provincial work safety and supervision bureau said.
The injured people are out of danger, the state-run Xinhua quoted the spokesperson as saying.
He added that the rescue work has been finished and the cause for the accident is under investigation.
Wang Rulin, party chief of the province, and Governor Bayanqolu, rushed to the scene to guide the rescue team, and also visited the injured workers who were receiving treatment at a hospital.
The mine is a state-owned colliery under Tonghua Mining (Group) Company Ltd.
