SDS Pathology is expanding its India backend operations.
In addition to Bangalore and Hyderabad, the Sydney headquartered major is setting up a new facility in Visakhapatnam, according to Brett Monk, General Manager, SDS Pathology India.
The Visakhapatnam facility in Andhra Pradesh with a couple of hundred employees will be ready by end of 2014.
It will recruit professionals with pharmacy degrees and supplement the other centres in beefing up services back home in Australia, Brett who is on a short visit here told Business Line today.
Essentially, the existing centres in Bangalore and Hyderabad are involved in Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO). SDS Pathology is a group company of Primary Healthcare, the $1.52 billion (for year ending June 30, 2014). The Hyderabad centre was set up in 2012. The pathology tests, imaging, etc, are done in Australia. It provides diagnostic insights to referral medical practitioners and their patients. The Indian centres do the transcription, coding, clinical notes etc for this explained U V Narasimha Murthy, Director and COO, based in Hyderabad. The company is also into software development and employs software testers.
Down Under, the company is increasing its diagnostic services into molecular genetics testing. From serological (blood) test to PCR based (polymerase chain reaction) testing services is the range that it wants to offer.
