China’s consumer price inflation rose to 2.4 per cent year-on-year in March, up from 2 per cent in February, the Government said on Friday.
The rise was mainly driven by a 4.1-per-cent jump in food prices, which account for nearly one-third of China’s consumer price index, the National Bureau of Statistics reported.
The consumer price index rose 2.3 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, the bureau said, well within the Government’s target of keeping the annual inflation to a maximum of 3.5 per cent.
