DM Healthcare, a leading healthcare conglomerate in West Asia and India, has launched the first mobile medical clinic in the UAE as part of its public awareness campaigns.

The mobile clinic known as ‘Dr Aster Mobile’ was launched here yesterday by the company in line with the group’s commitment as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

The campaigns — Safety Tips for Road Accident Prevention (STRAP) and Be Empathetic, Act Timely (BEAT) — is aimed at raising awareness on road safety, and educate people about how to act on critical emergencies and situations.

They were launched in association with Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services and Road and Transport Authority.

The mobile clinic is equipped to offer primary care and basic lab investigation. The vehicle will travel across the country to offer free primary medical care. It will also be used for educating people on road safety and emergency first-aid care.

Commenting on the campaign, Padma Azad Moopen, Chairman of DM Healthcare, said: “The Government has successfully worked towards building Dubai as one of the safest cities in the world. Yet, road safety isn’t the responsibility of the authorities alone, but of each and every one of us.

“It is important that we, as corporates and individuals, lend a hand to the authorities in ensuring the continued safety of the city and its people.’’

“Car accidents are the third biggest cause of deaths worldwide. The UAE statistics of last year show that 720 people have died and 7,808 people have been injured in car accidents. We urge people to support us in this campaign and understand the fatality of road accidents,” an RTA spokesperson said.

‘Dr Aster Mobile’ clinic will also visit schools, industrial and corporate houses and other public places to spread awareness on road safety, extend free BEAT sessions and various health awareness programmes, including spreading awareness on the ill-effects of using tobacco, as part of DM Healthcare’s ‘Stub It’ campaign.
