The International Monetary Fund chief said that she sees subdued global growth ahead even with signs of recovery in major economies such as the US and Europe.
Christine Lagarde spoke to the US Chamber of Commerce yesterday, a few weeks before the IMF is to release its latest global economic forecasts at the lending agency’s semi-annual meeting in Washington.
She said advanced economies are in a better place than they were six months ago with the US growth picking up and Europe emerging from a long recession.
But developing countries that helped keep the global economy afloat during the recent economic crisis are now slowing down.
