IIM Ahmedabad recently released its summer placements report for 2014, according to the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS). A total of 110 firms offered internships to 378 students out of 381 for the batch of PGP 2015.

Consulting emerged as the top function with 24 per cent offers. Around 21 per cent of offers came from Finance and 19 per cent of internships were offered in sales/marketing domain.

Some of the investment banks that offered internships were Bank of America Merril Lynch, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, UBS, and Royal Bank of Scotland. Top consulting internships came from Bain & Co, Booz & Co, McKinsey, and Boston Consulting Group. Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, and Mars offered roles in the FMCG domain.

Around 50 students were placed in FMCG companies and 46 in other conglomerates. The IT sector offered 29 internships.

The online services sector emerged as a growing group of recruiters with 30 students from the PGP batch receiving offers from e-commerce players such as Flipkart, Amazon, and Infibeam. Pharmaceutical and healthcare was another emerging sector with 14 students getting internship in Abbot, Boehringer Ingelheim, Cipla and Dr. Reddy's.

Twenty-one students were offered international internships at IIM Ahmedabad. Out of these, two each were placed in Europe and the US, nine were offered positions in South-East Asia and eight offers came from West Asia.

The report, as per norms, is audited by CRISIL – an independent third party auditor. It doesn’t, however, reveal much about the stipends offered by recruiters to students.
