IIM Shillong has won the East Zonal Finals of 8th CFA Institute Research Challenge held on January 4 in Kolkata. The winning team was represented by Gaurav Bhardwaj, Gaurav Pilania, Gautam Jain, Jatin Sethi, and Saket Hawelia. They (team) presented their research analysis and recommendations in the form of an equity research report for the company - Astral Poly Technik.
The participating teams were judged on the research reports submitted earlier and the presentation made in front of the judges. Jury for the event include senior portfolio managers - Anirban Dutta, Director Jet Age Securities; Ajay Jaiswal, President and Head, Research & Investment Strategies at Microsec Capital; and Basant Maheshwari, Equity Investor.
Other colleges that participated in the event were XLRI Jamshedpur, IIFT Kolkata, IIM Ranchi, and VGSoM (IIT Kharagpur).
Other zonal winners of the CFA Institute Research Challenge include Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Delhi from the North Zone, IIM Tiruchirappalli from the South Zone, Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development from the Central Zone and S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai from the West Zone.
The winner from each zone will compete at the national finals to be held on 2nd Feb 2015 at Bloomberg Office, Mumbai.
