“The participants who came from the nook and corner of the country competed in the true spirit of sportsmanship. We are also seeing a silent revolution happening in skilling ecosystem in the country," said Dilip Chenoy, MD & CEO of NSDC. "Skills that were traditionally considered to be male dominated are seeing women contestants and vice versa. This year we saw a lady competing for welding while men were competing in the beauty and wellness section. This is the kind of change we always hoped for and are happy to see them happening.”

WorldSkills India is organised and conducted by National Skill Development Corporation with the support of Confederation of Indian Industry. This year WorldSkills India competition was also supported by the recently created Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

At the WorldSkills International 2013 held in Leipzig, Germany, India had won three medals of excellence in the categories of Gems & Jewellery, Graphic Design, and IT Software Solutions for Business.
