When asked about the fate of Kingfisher Airlines, journalists in the capital got a philosophical response from a Cabinet Minister.
Top functionaries of the Government met recently in Parliament to discuss the financial woes of Kingfisher Airlines. After the meeting, some people approached this minister, who plays an important role in the aviation sector. The minister, getting into his car, raised his head and both hands skyward. “Sir, are you saying Ram jaane ”, (God only knows), asked a reporter.
Gas plants to tombs
The way gas-based power plants have been starved in Andhra Pradesh, it might not be surprising if they end up as monuments. Or, so said a senior bureaucrat in Andhra Pradesh, talking of the expansion of gas-based projects, mostly in the coastal region.
There is no sight of gas supply coming from any source in the near future, putting the huge investments in jeopardy.
Lazy India
Is India's demographic dividend, (read the large percentage of young, productive youth) turning into a joke?
At a recent Budget Talk, Dr Santanu Paul, Chief of TalentSprint, a skill-imparting enterprise, observed that in the next decade, millions of jobs will come the way of young people, but most of them will be in sales, marketing, retail, and involve hard work.
The paradox is nearly 70 per cent of Indian students prefer soft jobs in sectors that provide office-based, comfort zone functioning, pointing to a lazy India ahead.
He asked students to get over this and prepare themselves to take on challenging careers.
