Briefly – Award for professional excellence

Zee Business and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have come together to institute an award to recognise professional excellence in real estate.

The ‘ZEE BUSINESS — RICS Real Estate Award' is to recognise all-round professional excellence in real estate projects and individuals.

‘Delivery to the market' is an important indicator of professional excellence. Therefore, only those projects, that have been completed and are either occupied or ready for occupation, are eligible. It will recognise projects that demonstrate all-round excellence in design and planning, construction, value for customers and a commitment to sustainability.

The purpose will be to encourage the industry to set new standards, bring in innovation, futuristic designs and quality projects which offer value for customers and the community at large.

At another level, the awards will recognise the expertise and contribution of individuals who have carved a niche for themselves in the real estate industry, and have been instrumental in taking India's development to the next level.

A highly-distinguished and neutral jury, comprising of senior leaders will be reviewing the project nominations at the jury meets across New Delhi and Mumbai.

Winners of these prestigious awards will be announced at the ‘Awards Night' on September 29.

Mahindra to expand infrastructure

Mahindra World City, Chennai, a pioneer in the concept of integrated business city when it was launched a decade ago in 2002, is looking at the next phase of growth with expansion of retail, leisure and healthcare space.

According to a press release from Mahindra World City, the next phase of development will include plazas, multiplexes, hospitals, clubs with sports facilities, and accommodation for single, working professionals.

It has a current working population of 25,000, which is expected to reach 100,000 in the next 8-10 years. The exports from the three sector-specific Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in it were Rs 3,500 crore in 2010-2011.

It has a residential zone master-planned with social amenities including schools, medical centres, retail plazas, a business hotel, recreation and leisure facilities.

The residential development started with Sylvan County, offering 212 homes spread across 22 acres, and now has two more offerings, Aqualily with 761 homes spread across 56 acres and Iris Court with 702 apartments spread across 18 acres. Both are under development and, when completed, will add an additional 1,500 homes to the city. The balance residential development is expected to be completed during the next 8-10 years.

Mahindra World City has a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) school, Mahindra World School, managed by the Mahindra World School Education Trust with 400 children. There is also a day-care centre from Amelio for infants and toddlers.

It recently signed up Duet Hotels to bring in a Holiday Inn Express that will be set up as a 4-star business hotel, and is expected to be operational by September 2013.

The 10th year will see a series of cultural events being showcased under the Rejoice@MahindraWorld City banner, bringing in a diversity of music, urban planning, theatre, and dance at regular intervals during the year, as part of a focus on community building.

A premium project in New Gurgaon

Orris Infrastructure, a real estate developer in the National Capital Region (NCR) has launched Aster Court Premier at Sector 85, New Gurgaon. Aster Court Premier is part of 25 acres of group housing, which offers luxurious and aesthetically-designed condominiums with modern facilities. The area of these 3- and 4-BHK units is 1,970 square feet and 2,410 square feet, and the cost is from Rs 86 lakh onwards.

The project will offer a 10,000 square feet club area with a swimming pool and modern amenities, including landscaped grounds and infrastructure.

On the launch of the new project, Mr Vijay Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, Orris Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd, said in the release that the location and infrastructure is driving demand in this sector of New Gurgaon. Also, the planned 8-lane Dwarka Expressway has given a boom to this area, making it one of the hottest destinations of Gurgaon. The project is to be completed within 36 months from the date of commencement.

Orris has approximately 1,000 acres of land bank and the successful launch of premium commercial and residential spaces along NH-8 to its credit. The land bank is located in prime locations situated next to NH-8 and in New Gurgaon sectors.
