US equity markets were in the red expecting a strong jobs report last Friday, as that would strengthen the possibility of a Fed rate hike. Investors in China bought on the hopes that there may be more government support for stocks. Shares of graphics chip maker Nvidia gained on upbeat quarterly results; but Disney’s stock price dipped as its quarterly revenue was below analyst expectations.
Bond yields were mixed globally — yields increased in Germany on US rate hike expectations while lower inflation forecasts led to a fall in UK bond yields. Rupee strengthened against most major currencies.
