The Prime Minister on April 14, 2020 announced the extension of the nationwide lockdown imposed in March to curb the spread of coronavirus infection, till May 3, 2020. Under the revised guidelines applicable during this period, the Home Ministry said public transport services, including flights and trains, cinema halls, shopping complexes and malls, and educational institutions would remain closed till May 3, even though select industrial activities, particularly outside urban areas, and those important to maintain essential services and supplies will be allowed to function from April 20.
