Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the refreshed edition of its bestseller Swift with 10 per cent improved fuel efficiency. The hatch will be available in both Petrol and Diesel fuel options and starts at ₹4.42 lakh onwards.

The new Swift’s new looks are accentuated by the new bumper, stylish grille, bezel fog lamps and trendy alloys. The interiors also get a makeover with wrap around premium trims with sporty silver accents.

Other features on the list include push start button, electric retractable ORVMs with turn indicators, reverse parking sensor, speed-based auto volume and Electromagnetic back door opener, among others. The Swift Diesel has a certified fuel efficiency of 25.2* kmpl, up by 10 per cent. The Swift Petrol comes with a 9.67 per cent improvement and has a certified fuel efficiency of 20.4* kmpl.

Engines The diesel mill is powered by the 1,248cc DDiS 190 diesel engine returning torque of 190Nm @ 2,000 rpm and power of 75ps @ 4,000rpm. The Petrol variant comes with the 1197cc K series VVT engine that delivers a power of 84.3ps @ 6,000rpm and a torque of 115Nm @ 4,000rpm.

The engineers have tweaked the engines to improve fuel efficiency that include changes in engine hardware leading to improved thermal efficiency, reduced frictional losses and changes in engine calibration.

While the compact combustion chamber and higher compression ratio in the petrol engine helps improve efficiency, advanced thermal management system in the diesel engine along with low friction engine oil and modified fuel injection system help in faster warm up and lower frictional losses.
