Bentley will now make the experience in the driver’s seat as exciting as it is luxurious in the rear seat, with a new flagship, the Mulsanne Speed. Making this new luxury car a bit more of a driver’s car is a reengineered 6¾-litre twin-turbo V8, that spews out a maximum power of 537 PS, and churns out 1,100 Nm of torque. This mill propels the Mulsanne Speed to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds (0100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) and on to a top speed of 190 mph, the company said in a press statement.

The Mulsanne Speed manages to get its excitement quotient from a fully redesigned combustion system , which creates a much faster and more controlled combustion process. According to the company, the new engine is paired with a recalibrated gearbox designed to enhance the driving experience of the Mulsanne Speed.

A new “S” mode gives the driver more control over the car’s high-performance behaviour, and maintains the engine speed above 2,000 rpm so that the turbochargers are always ready to deliver instantaneous performance. The Sport mode also stiffens the all-round air suspension more control and adjusts steering dynamics for greater feedback and accuracy, said the company.

To give the Mulsanne Speed a bit more of an aggressive presence, a dark tint finish has been applied to the exterior stainless steel matrix grilles, radiator grille, lower bumper grilles and wing vents. The Mulsanne Speed will be the fiorst Bentley to come with directional styled wheels, with a design that is handed for the right or left side of the car. Twin rifled exhaust tailpipes complement the revised powertrain, while a solid, polished stainless steel Speed badging sits on the front fender and door tread plate areas.

Inside the cabin, the Mulliner Driving Specification interior features are fitted as standard, and they include diamond quilted hide door panels and seats, indented hide headlining, embroidered Bentley emblems to all seats, a coined finish to interior door handles, and drilled alloy sports foot pedals.

The Mulsanne Speed will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and will arrive in the market later in the winter.
