BMW’s performance focused M Division has been in the midst of introducing a barrage of cars. Cars with the M badge promise the highest levels of agility, power and dynamics. Many have made their way to India and more are on the way including the X5M and the all-new X6M.

BMW India now plans to give M customers a special experience, by setting up the BMW M Studio in seven cities of India by 2016. The first of them was opened in Mumbai on Wednesday and the first new car to be showcased there was the M6 Gran Coupé.

The 6 Series Gran Coupé is already stunning to look at with its low profile and dynamic two-door stance. In the M6 Gran Coupé, the powerfully sculpted front wings with hallmark M grills, the side skirts and the exclusive forged M light-alloy wheels further enhance this impression.

The design’s sportiness is rounded off by a rear apron with integrated diffuser insert, two sets of M-brand twin tailpipes and the M6 logo on the boot lid. Another exclusive M feature is the ultra-lightweight contoured carbon-fibre roof. The cabin of the new BMW M6 Gran Coupé also exudes the high-performance and luxurious character typical of M cars. The door-sill finisher with M logo, the contoured seats and the bespoke colour combinations of upholstery all capture the exclusivity of the interior.

The M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine is the top of the line among the M power units. Its enormous power of 560 hp (412 kW) and 680 Nm is available across the engine range due to the TwinScroll turbocharging concept. This M engine demonstrates that power and efficiency are by no means mutually exclusive with BMW EfficientDynamics technologies.

Together, these make for an average fuel consumption of just 10.10 kmpl of petrol. The sprint from 0 to 100 kmph takes 4.2 seconds and top speed is 250 kmph.

The engine’s power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic. The new BMW M6 Gran Coupé also features two M Drive buttons on the steering wheel for pre-programmed configurations for either a sporty or a comfortable drive.

The new BMW M6 Gran Coupé is available at BMW dealerships across India as a CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit. It is available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.71 crore.
