JLR, which unveiled the Jaguar I-Pace electric SUV concept at the LA Auto Show, is targeting 2018 as the year when the car will become a reality. Apart from Europe and the US, China is also part of the company’s electric mobility drive. With diesel not exactly the flavor of the season in Europe, automakers are pulling out all stops with their e-mobility efforts. And with India announcing its intent to introduce Bharat Stage VI norms in 2020, there is reason to believe that electric cars may just become more relevant as an option. However, the pace of change will take time if current market reaction to electric vehicles is any indication.
