FCA is open to the idea of collaborating more closely with Tata Motors, its manufacturing ally in India for nearly a decade now. “It is a long and good relationship. I would be very open to discussions with Tatas about opportunities where collectively we could win and the market could win,” said Manley. These collaborative areas could include engines, transmissions, various platform components and “those elements where volumes help drive down price”. Manley reiterated that a Jeep vehicle has very exacting standards and any solution with Tatas would have to be true to the brand. “We talk to them every single month on a range of issues,” he said.
