Beyond Compass, FCA believes that there could be an opportunity in bringing a smaller Jeep to India. Clearly, the goal is to make the most of the country’s SUV momentum and a competitively priced Jeep model could do the trick in generating volumes and giving the much needed fillip to its company’s beleaguered vehicle business. According to Manley, India could end up being one of the key global hubs for this vehicle which will be very true to what the Jeep brand stands for. The smaller Jeep will be equally relevant for markets such as Europe, Brazil and many others. It could be launched in India first and the Ranjangaon plant will then have a larger global role to play.
