American motorcycle heavyweight Harley Davidson has launched a new addition to its ‘Street’ range — the Street Rod, with bookings now open in dealerships across the country.

The Street Rod is powered by the liquid cooled High Output Revolution X ™ 750 V-twin engine, which the company claims produces more peak power and torque, each delivered at 8,250 rpm and 4,000 rpm respectively. It’s tuned to deliver between 4,000 and 5,000 rpm, with strong midrange performance, Harley Davidson said in a press release.

It features a larger volume air box and new dual 42 mm throttle bodies, new four-valve cylinder heads and high-lift camshafts, plus a higher-volume exhaust muffler. Compression ratio has been raised from 11:1 to 12:1 and the redline goes from 8,000 to 9,000 rpm.

The front end features rigid 43 mm inverted forks gripped by lightweight aluminium yokes. Fork rake has been tightened from 32° to 27° for quicker steering, the press release stated.

New rear shock absorbers feature an external reservoir to increase fluid capacity and maintain damping consistency; travel is increased 31 per cent to 117 mm. The swing arm is slightly longer to accommodate the taller shocks, with performance-inspired styling. A new seat shape is designed to hold the rider firmly in place and seat height is raised to 765 mm, to enhance the rider’s view forward. The Street Rod also features new forged brake/gear levers plus aluminium rearset footpegs that aid control and make it easier for more riders to get good ground reach when stationary, according to Harley Davidson.

A new tail section, with perforated rear mudguard, lightens the rear with an all new LED tail light with H-D signature lighting.

The raised ride height with ground clearance of 205 mm and the new 17-inch front and rear wheels with open spoke design lightens the visuals of the motorcycle that injects the Street Rod with an athletic stance, while the new scoop-style air cleaner cover and sharper snap of the exhaust note draw attention to the engine’s design. The Street Rod will be offered in three colour options — Vivid Black, Charcoal Denim and Olive Gold. It is priced at ₹5,86,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and test rides begin from the 17th of April onwards.
