The Anatomy of a modern school bus

For many of us, the yellow school bus would be an indelible icon from our childhood, whether we rode in one or not. If we didn’t ride one to school, we surely still remember it from the staple of Hollywood movies and soaps we grew up watching. But, the school bus as we know it in India has hardly changed over the decades. It is still a large bread box on wheels with very little attention to comfort or safety of the children travelling in it. Ashok Leyland claims that it is out to change that studious indifference to safety with its new Sunshine school bus. Safer, more comfortable to drive, and with a more funky and hygienic cabin, Sunshine is being called the school bus of the future. Of course, we had to get behind the wheel at AL’s test track near Chennai to verify that first-hand.
